Work mates take a Sailing Workout.
Work colleagues from neighbouring small businesses in Chelmsford formed a novice crew to hoist the sails and navigate their way around the buoys of the Blackwater Estuary last weekend. When taking the helm Marrianne commented, 'I can't believe how chilled out this is, I just love it', whilst her crew mates undertook the physical efforts of hoisting and trimming the sails. After the mornings exertions, the team picked up a mooring at West Mersea and went ashore for a well earned rest over lunch in one of the hostelries in this quaint East Coast island location, before sailing back to the marina on a rising tide. As has been the case for much of this season the weather proved changeable, but as always, it failed to spoil a great day on the water.
Champagne Sailing on Girls Day Out.
Five young ladies from the mid Essex area treated themselves recently to a special day of sunshine and sailing up the Essex coast. Leaving Bradwell marina in the morning, they set sail and cruised just off the beach huts of Mersea Island, before following the beautiful sandy coast up towards Frinton. After dropping anchor close inshore behind Clacton Pier in very flat water, the ladies enjoyed a champagne lunch whilst lounging in the cockpit taking the sun. Afterwards they sailed out to the Gunfleet wind farm to see close up just how tall those structures are. Throughout the day the ladies performed all the crewing activities on board and Sam proved a natural helm as she steered the boat through the tricky entrance to Bradwell creek before executing a perfect parking manoeuvre returning the boat safely to its berth. Well done ladies, we hope to see you on board again some time soon. |
